Myth #21: The schools are dumbing down society

My blogmate has pushed a series of misguided posts about what he perceives as misconceptions regarding the schooling process. Because he is critical of our flawless schooling system, he is obviously wrong 110% of the time. As a fake teacher, I'm obviously the purfect person to disprove his points. I'm also 110% confident that my conclusive nonsense will be so flawless that nobody will make the mistake of believing his more rational arguments.

People are getting dumber. I can't deny that, but this has nothing to do with the schools. Schools are all about mental development. We know this because we say so. If people are getting dumber, this has to be mere coincidence.

I'm not sure what's causing all of this, but it can't be the schools. It just can't be. I refuse to accept the evidence. Since the schools are associated with mental development, we must be the solution. With the decline of intelligence, we need to push schooling more than ever before.

Following the same path but pushing even harder is the logical solution to reverse trends. If we want a more intelligent society, we must take a process that has coincidentally corresponded with the decline and ensure nothing meaningful changes. If you follow teachers, our unions, or our mindless supporters, you know that strengthening the status quo will turn everything around.

The idea that telling children not to think somehow results in children who are less intelligent is absurd. We're the solution, not the problem. We know that because it's what our unions claim. We know this because it's what we want to believe. I will not stand by and let anyone tell you that our mentally destructive practices are somehow detrimental to mental ability.
