2020: More of the same... again

What is the biggest threat that we are currently facing? According to the Democrats, it's climate change. According to Republicans, it's our insane deficits. Neither party has actually addressed these problems, but I want to throw in another threat, our lack of educational rights.

Our schooling system was derived from an oppressive schooling system developed by the Prussians. The schools were never designed to educate. In the past, we even insisted that the schools were designed to prevent over-education. Not surprisingly, our country now faces a serious educational crisis.

Both parties have addressed education in some form, but we never see meaningful change. Part of the problem is that we assume our schools are what our propaganda says they are. Instead of creating an educational system that is actually educational, we look for ways to strengthen, expand, and enforce what we already have. As a result our changes have not ended our crisis.

Democrats are actively campaigning for 2020. It appears that they have all embraced the idea that more of the same will fix our problems. We keep hearing about early childhood programs and subsidized college. They insist that we need to increase the amount of time we spend in school as a means of addressing problem that have emerged in our over-schooled society.

One thing that I want to mention before I go any further is inefficiency. Over the years, there have been numerous attempts to push schooling to younger ages and increase the length of the school day. Some even want to move to year-round schooling. The argument behind these proposals is to try to increase the number of students who meet minimum standards. I have never heard one of these proposals accompanied by higher expectations. In other words, we are increasing the time spent to learn the same amount. We are decreasing the efficiency of a process that is already far too inefficient.

College is another problem that I have already explained too many times. Pushing children through our K-12 system has drastically diminished the value of a high school diploma. There is an odd belief out there that treating college in the same manner will produce the exact opposite result. Degree inflation is one of many issues that the "college is for everyone" crowd keeps overlooking. That and the fact that college is definitely not for everyone.

Kamala Harris is especially problematic for those who care about education. She is among those who  believes in early childhood programs and massively expanded school hours. In all fairness to her, she is viewing this more as an issue of childcare than education. Even so, her proposals would force children to give more of their lives to government-controlled schools without any legitimate benefits.

What's worse about Harris is her views on truancy. She has pushed for laws that strengthened enforcement of these unconstitutional laws. This means that she has helped lock away parents for not doing enough to ensure government constraints on the educational process.

Every proposal that I have mentioned had a similar substantial flaw. Not one of them changes how the schools handle education. Instead, they expand on what we already have. They expand on what has already been proven faulty. This is not what we need. "More of the same" has already failed repeatedly. Instead, we need meaningful change, a concept to which the Democrats have repeatedly been proven hostile. For people like me, the Democrats are a threat to education and the well-being of future generations. I don't care much for Republicans, but they are definitely the preferred party right now for any who cares about education in America.
