What is Education?

Most people these days take education for granted. They hear the values of education and hear the schools attach the term to themselves and jump to the conclusion that schooling is important. The minority of us who actually believe in education tend to disagree. This is because we care enough to learn what education really means.

Different people define education in different ways. Dictionaries now list schooling as an acceptable definition. Some of us will never accept that something anti-educational should be allowed to use the term.

What is education? Figure it out for yourself. How do I define education? That is something that I WILL share. Education is the development of new skills and general mental development. This is drastically different that sitting still while being indoctrinated with mind-numbing lectures and busywork.

I guess that I should ease up. You can define education as a mentally destructive environment that forces children to abandon who they are in exchange for a piece of paper that certifies them as socially acceptable mindless drones if you want, but I will stick to my definition that the schools are actively fighting.
