Stereotypical Student: Testing III

This intentionally corny series of posts makes fun of the schools by providing an obviously fictional diary of a student who fits many stereotypes.

Entry #18

We have a test tomorrow. To prepare for the test, our class spent today reviewing the material. There are so many benefits to this kind of review.

This was the second or third time, I don't remember which, we have covered what will be on our test. By assuming that a significant amount of facts have been lost, our teacher is trying to ensure that we gained what we needed that first time around.

Another obvious benefit to reviews is that they prove that we are not merely memorizing content to recite. Repeating the exact same content over and over again is clearly how we add depth to what we have already been told.

Finally, you have to appreciate the timing. This hard push for remembering these things which weren't merely memorized proves that we are expected to know these things through the rest of our lives. If they wanted to know these things for just one day, the review would have obviously come some other time. This is how I know that this is not just short-term non-memory, but long-term non-memory.
