Schooling and the 9th amendment

Amendment IX

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

When the Bill of Rights was initially developed, the writers acknowledged a major problem. It is impossible to properly address every right that American citizens should have. The ninth amendment provides protection for rights not specifically addressed by the other amendments.

I want to share a few things right now that I personally consider to be fundamental rights.
  • The right to individuality
  • The right to independent thought
  • The right to pursue a healthy education
None of these rights are addressed specifically by the Bill of Rights. Thanks to the ninth amendment, the government is prohibited from denying these rights to citizens. These are also rights that our forced schooling system are actively and aggressively fighting.

The government has absolutely no right to force citizens to go through a process that attacks fundamental rights and freedoms, even if the constitution does not specifically protect those rights and freedoms. There is no doubt in my mind that the government's involvement in the schools is in direct violation of the ninth amendment.
