As I have repeatedly stated, the schools destroy everything they touch. I'm not a big fan of eSports. I would much rather play video games than watch someone else play. That doesn't mean that I'm fine with colleges getting involved in eSports.
The obvious issue I have is with college eSport teams. You should not be required to allow a college to control and restrict your education just to participate in eSports. There is no good reason for colleges to try to control eSports.
A lot of colleges don't stop there. There are now college courses dedicated to eSports. These can be dedicated to how to turn eSports into a career outside of competition, such as streaming play. They also create courses for eSports management. No matter how you look at it, colleges want to control the world of eSports.
If you can make a career out of playing video games, good for you. Hopefully, it's because people think you have something to offer such as entertainment, help finding games people will love, or tips for people to improve their own gaming. It should not be about a piece of paper. There is no reason that we need colleges to become involved.
Education has taken on contradictory meanings. Some of us reject using the term to refer to our schools. It can be stated that our schools are at war with education. This blog was initially developed for the purpose of sharing some quick (rather than conclusive) pro-education/anti-schooling thoughts. This has been expanded to include a voice from the other side of the war. Admittedly, this voice was picked for its tendency to show the absurdities of the pro-schooling/anti-educational side.
