When I was in school, there was an obvious problem with child exploitation. This came in many forms, but one of the more obvious was the push to think whatever teachers wanted us to think. This included the intentionally skewed portrayal of history and attempts to convince students who couldn't even vote to fight for the passage of levies. There is no question whatsoever that my teachers used their position of authority to manipulate children.
Because of what I went through, I truly believe that we need to establish policies to prevent teachers from exploiting children. Despite what Democrats want you to believe, it is not authoritarian for the government to tell government workers that they are not allowed to use their position of authority to force an agenda onto American citizens. Recently, I have seen the NEA and AFT openly and aggressively promote heavily biased sources such as Learning for Justice and Black Lives Matter at School. The sources I just mentioned are connected to controversial liberal organizations. The NEA and AFT also actively push liberal misinformation. This is why I think the schools are even worse today than they were when I was enslaved at those institutions.
I recently read an article out of Miami that insisted that Ron DeSantis is forcing parents to hand the responsibility of parenting to the state. Why does this sound familiar? That's right, I have repeatedly made this comment about growing up in liberal schools.
By the way, the writer of the article needs to look up in loco parentis. There are laws in place that legitimately require these government workers to act as parents. Also keep in mind that the government gave neither the real parents nor the children an option. This has nothing to do with Ron DeSantis.
Admittedly, some Republicans have gone too far. There's a big difference between fighting liberal indoctrination and prohibiting access to liberal viewpoints. Although some of these bans have been misrepresented (not letting teachers force a book on a child is not the same as banning a book), they have removed too many books from school libraries.
A big problem is the Donald Trump brought tactics of the Democratic party to the Republican party. There's no question that we have a problem with liberal indoctrination. Instead of fighting indoctrination, Trump proposed replacing it with his own brand of indoctrination. He called this the 1776 Commission. Since then, numerous Republicans have tried to control rather than eliminate the indoctrination.
In many ways, this is the problem. Giving the government the power to control and restrict education allows corrupt political figures to manipulate the views of future voters. Along with the promotion of obedience to authoritarian figures, this is likely why authoritarian governments consistently embrace government-controlled schooling.
The Republicans and Democrats seem to be fighting over the best way to wield the power of the schools for their own benefits. Simply removing Republican influence isn't going to fix this. If we care about future generations, we only have one option available. We need to strip the government of the power to control and restrict education. If you don't want the government seizing parental duties from parents, we can't trap children in that environment. We need some form of educational choice.
