Repair or replace

School reform has been a hot topic in recent years. Some ideas might sound good on paper, but they will all fall short. Why? Because the schools were built off of strong anti-educational values. Attempts to reform the system only solidify the foundation.

Something needs to be done, but it is impossible to repair the system. At this point, we need to look at replacing our approach to education. Even a school-free (education tolerant) society would be a good replacement for a process that ensures that we are all under-educated.

The money that we are spending in a futile attempt to ensure that no child will ever grow up to have a brain is already excessive. We don’t need expensive quick fixes that may be expensive and quick but don’t fix anything. Instead of looking at how to adjust what we already have, we really need to start looking at what we need. I can assure you that what we need will never be offered by the schools.
