The period countdown

When people look forward to something, they might count down the days. When I was looking forward to the end of the school year, I counted down the periods.

I kept the countdown on a piece of paper. I had already written the numbers, so I crossed off a number each time I finished a class. I also had an English teacher that allowed us to write on the board before class. I was nice enough to share the countdown with everyone.

This wasn’t just the last week of school that we’re talking about. Other students were well aware of my countdown. In fact, one of the first questions I heard the following year related to an update to the countdown. I don’t think that the person asking expected an answer, but I had one.
