Core was a waste of time

One of my classes in school was actually two classes in one, social studies and English. This class was core. Some days, we would have an hour of English and an hour of social studies. Others, we would open up the wall between the classrooms to create a larger class with two teachers.

There was one segment of the class that my teachers felt that some of us didn’t need because we already knew the information. We were given a test before even starting. Those of us who passed would be provided with an alternative so that we wouldn’t be wasting our time. I passed. My teachers insisted that too many people failed, and we would all have to suffer through the repetition. After telling us that they weren’t going to waste our time, they took it back. How often do teachers actually insist that they are wasting your time?
